Why Choose Us

Capacity Checked Before You Commit

Before anything that needs its own circuit is ordered, we check what your switchboard can carry and whether a spare position is available. That avoids equipment arriving before the electrical side is ready for it.

Ontrack Electrical is owner-operated, fully licensed and insured, and works across homes and small commercial sites. You'll know what the job costs before we start.

  • Aaron L Customer

We were so lucky that some friends recommended Liam. He's friendly, thoughtful, interested in solving problems, in a way that makes him a delight to deal with. We couldn't be happier with the results of his work and unlike other sparkies we've worked with, he turns up on time and even came back on his day off to make sure everything was working as it should. His prices are fair, and his work is of a very high standard. Couldn't be happier. We will definitely be hiring Liam for all future work in our house.

Asked Questions

Officer Electrician Questions

  • Rarely repairs, usually additions. Builders fit the minimum practical number of outlets and provide nothing for a car charger or a fitted out yard. That is the bulk of what we do in Officer.

  • Often, but it depends on the spare positions and what has already been added since handover. Send a photo of the board with the cover on and we can usually tell you a lot before attending.

  • Think about the finished picture over the next few years, not the first job. Alfresco power, path and fence lighting, and a supply for a future shed or pool all belong in one plan, which is far cheaper than adding to it annually.

  • Yes. The original township housing is a different job to the estates, generally involving the switchboard first, and we work on both.

  • Pakenham, Beaconsfield, Beaconsfield Upper and the rest of Cardinia Shire, plus Berwick, Clyde North and the City of Casey suburbs just to the west.

Electrical Work in Officer

Two Kinds of Home, Two Kinds of Job

Officer covers both recent estate housing and the older township that predates it, and the electrical work splits along that line. In the newer homes the board is modern and there is rarely anything to repair, so the requests are for what the builder left out: outlets in studies and along benches, and a dedicated circuit where a kitchen has been reworked since handover.

In the original township the starting point is usually the switchboard itself. We look at what's there before quoting either way, because the same request can mean very different work depending on which side of Officer the house sits on.

Getting More Out of the Lighting

A lot of Officer homes were handed over with the living areas on a single switch, which is fine for cleaning the house and poor for anything else. Separating the circuits so lamps, feature lights and general lighting work independently costs less than most people expect.

In the older weatherboards the constraint is different: fewer points, harder ceiling access and often no provision for downlights at all. Both are worth doing, but they're quoted differently.

Air Conditioning and Fans

Adding a second head or a separate system for an upstairs room needs its own circuit, and we check the board has a free position and the capacity to carry it before you order the unit. That check takes minutes and saves the install being postponed.

Ceiling fans do useful work in double storey Officer homes, where the upstairs bedrooms hold heat well after the living areas have cooled down.

Power for Pool Equipment

If a pool is going in, the equipment supply is better planned with the pool than added once the paving is down. Pumps, filters and heaters run for long stretches, so the circuit is sized for sustained load rather than occasional use.

We fit the supply and an isolator you can actually reach for servicing, in an enclosure rated for where it sits, and we can also sort out an existing setup that has started tripping.

Sheds, Yards and Outdoor Power

Blocks toward the northern side of Officer run larger, and that changes the outdoor work: a shed or workshop set well back from the house is a planned supply with its own protection, not an outlet on an extension lead.

On the estate blocks the yard is usually bare at handover. Working out the alfresco power, the side access lighting and any future shed in one go means the cable is sized once for the finished yard.

Charging an EV at Home

With a lot of Officer residents commuting west or into the city, charging overnight at home is generally more practical than relying on public chargers. In the newer homes the garage usually sits close to the board, which keeps the install simple.

The deciding factor is spare capacity on the switchboard, particularly where cooling and a pool have already been added since handover. We check that first, so the charger you choose is one the board can actually run.
