Outdoor Electrical Work Built for the Conditions
Electrical fittings installed outside have to handle rain, moisture, heat and years of exposure to the weather. Using the right fittings and installing them properly from the start makes a significant difference to how reliably they perform.
We use weather-rated fittings and enclosures suited to their location, plan cable runs carefully and set up outdoor lighting properly once it’s installed.

We were so lucky that some friends recommended Liam. He's friendly, thoughtful, interested in solving problems, in a way that makes him a delight to deal with. We couldn't be happier with the results of his work and unlike other sparkies we've worked with, he turns up on time and even came back on his day off to make sure everything was working as it should. His prices are fair, and his work is of a very high standard. Couldn't be happier. We will definitely be hiring Liam for all future work in our house.

Outdoor Electrical Questions
No. An outlet in an outdoor position needs a weatherproof enclosure rated for it, even under an eave or a pergola, because wind driven rain and humidity reach further than people expect. Using an indoor outlet outside is one of the more common causes of nuisance tripping.
Usually with a dedicated circuit run from the switchboard, either underground in conduit or overhead depending on the property. The distance affects the cable size, so the run gets measured and costed, not estimated. From there the shed gets its own lighting and outlets.
Normally the sensitivity or the aim. A sensor pointed across a driveway or at a tree that moves in the wind will trigger constantly. Repositioning and adjusting it usually solves it. If it has stopped coming on at all, water in the fitting is the more likely cause.
Sometimes, depending on where the fittings need to go and what paths and paving are in the way. Where a trench is needed we tell you the route before starting. On established gardens we plan the run to disturb as little as possible.
Modern LED outdoor fittings draw very little, so the running cost is minor compared with the difference they make. The bigger decisions are how many fittings you want and how they are switched, which we go through at the quote.
It depends on the distance from the switchboard, whether cable has to go underground, and how many fittings or outlets are involved. We look at the property, price the work and only start once you have agreed. Quotes are free.
Outdoor Electrical Explained
Weatherproof Power Outside
Outdoor outlets get used far more than people expect once they exist. The alfresco, the deck, the side of the house where the pressure washer lives, the spot where the caravan sits.
What makes them last is the enclosure and the seal, not the outlet itself. A rated weatherproof enclosure, mounted so water runs off rather than into it, is the difference between an outlet that works for a decade and one that trips the circuit after a wet fortnight.
View Outdoor Powerpoints →Security and Sensor Lighting
Security lighting works because of where it is aimed, not because of how bright it is. A well placed sensor light covers the approach to a door or a driveway and comes on before someone reaches it.
The setup is the part that gets skipped. Sensitivity, timing and aim all need adjusting on site, otherwise you end up with a light that triggers on passing cars all night and gets switched off at the board.
View Security Lighting →Garden, Path and Driveway Lighting
Landscape lighting changes a property more than almost any other outdoor job. A driveway lined with in ground fittings, uplights on established trees, or low level lighting along a path makes the whole place look considered after dark.
It also makes the property easier and safer to move around at night, which is the practical reason most people start looking at it in the first place.
View Garden & Landscape Lighting →Sheds, Garages and Outdoor Equipment
A shed running off a lead from the house is limited to whatever that lead can carry, which rules out most tools and any real lighting. A dedicated supply removes that ceiling and makes the space genuinely usable.
The same applies to anything else living outside that draws steady current. Sizing the circuit for what will actually be connected, rather than what is connected today, avoids doing the job twice.
