Running Out of Powerpoints?
Almost every house built before the last decade is short of outlets, and it shows in the same way everywhere. Double adaptors stacked on double adaptors, a power board behind the television, and an extension lead running along the skirting to reach the corner where the lamp goes.
Half of it comes down to outlets that have simply worn out. After twenty years of plugs going in and out the internal contacts loosen, which is why a plug starts falling out under its own weight or the faceplate feels warm to touch.
Neither is something to live with indefinitely. Loose contacts generate heat, and a permanent tangle of adaptors puts far more through one outlet than it was ever meant to carry.
- Double adaptors and power boards doing permanent duty
- Extension leads run along skirting or under rugs
- A plug that falls out of the socket on its own
- A faceplate that feels warm, or shows brown discolouration
- No outlet anywhere near where you actually need one

Outlets Where You Actually Need Them
The fix is straightforward and the difference is immediate. Outlets added where you use them, and the tired ones replaced with new fittings that hold a plug properly.
Before quoting we check what circuit the new outlets will sit on and whether it has the capacity, because adding four outlets to a circuit that is already loaded moves the problem instead of solving it. Where a new circuit makes more sense, we say so.
Also worth planning is position. Behind the television, beside the bed, on the bench where the appliances live, in the study where everything charges. It costs nothing to think about at the quote and it is the part you notice daily.
Where there is roof or subfloor access the cable usually runs without opening walls. Where a position needs patching, you hear that before we start, not afterwards.

Powerpoint Questions
In most cases yes. Where there is accessible roof or subfloor space, new cable can be run without cutting into wall linings. Some positions do need a small amount of patching, and we tell you which ones before starting rather than after.
It depends on the circuit and on what is already connected to it. Rather than a fixed number, what matters is the total load. We check what the existing circuit is carrying before adding to it, and where a new circuit is the better answer we quote it that way.
Yes, that is worth acting on. Warmth usually means a loose connection or worn internal contacts generating heat, and it does not improve on its own. Stop using that outlet and have it replaced.
Yes. Combination outlets with integrated USB are a straight swap for a standard faceplate in most positions, and they are worth doing beside beds and in studies where a charger otherwise occupies a whole socket.
Yes, though outdoor outlets need a weatherproof enclosure rated for the position, not a standard fitting. That work sits under our outdoor electrical services.
It depends on how far the new outlet is from an existing circuit, how accessible the space above or below is, and whether several are being done at once. Grouping them into one visit is much cheaper than separate call-outs. Quotes are free.
